Consultation - Online or Physical

I mentor art students and professional artists in theory and practice, that is, top-level professional artists as well as emerging artists. I also provide art consultation to buyers and collectors on art acquisition.

My expertise is based on my experience as a Visual Arts lecturer from1990 to the present. I was a contemporary gallery owner (of Fried Contemporary, Pretoria, 2005-2014; and edg Gallery, 2020); I have 25 years full-time lecturing experience on university level (Unisa and UP, Art History and Visual Arts); 30+ years of curating on local and international level at major museums and galleries; and adjudicating experience at all the national art competitions, such as the Absa l'Atelier, the Sanlam Portrait Award and others. Susan Roux 2020.jpg

An example of success is Susan Roux who I mentored and who was awarded the 2020 John Stringer Prize. The commentary of the judges: "Congratulations Susan Roux the 2020 John Stringer Prize winner!!! Some of the judges comments: As a selection of works the impact is fantastic. Dark, moody and creative. Texturally brilliant. Unique skill set. A challenging and overwhelming work. Original and dramatic. Just wonderous scale and feelings exposed somehow – not particularly happy but deeply felt. These works take me further from all angles. Love the textures and the poem of explanation. And congratulations to all the finalists. Another fabulous showcase of superb West Australian Artists." Susan wrote: "Baie baie dankie vir jou ondersteuning, jou skerp vinnige brein, d manier waarop jy gedagtes uitpak en weer saam voeg! Dit is al rede hoekom ek gewen het! Dankie Elfriede!" (transl. "Thank you very much for your support, sharp quick brain, the manner in which you unpack thoughts and  put them together again! This is the only reason why I won! Thank you Elfriede"). https://web.facebook.com/JSPrize/?_rdc=1&_rdr
