Elfriede Dreyer is an art academic, curator, researcher and artist that has been working in the domain of South African for 30 years.
Dreyer has almost 30 years of university teaching and curating and consultation experience. Since 2015 she has been affiliated with the the University of South Africa again as an Extraordinary Professor in Visual Arts. She has published widely.
She has worked with major multi-national organisations and museums and provides art consultation to corporates, embassies and private collectors on art collecting and installation. She also provides curatorial and consulting services iand does freelance curating at festivals, galleries and various other venues. She founded Fried Contemporary Art Gallery in Pretoria in 2005, together with Charles Gijzelaar as partner, which she ran until 2014 when it was sold to new owners and it subsequently closed in 2018.
She also offers training in contemporary professional art practice at the CAP Institute of Learning in Contemporary Art Practice that was established in 2015 and offers workshops and a certificate course to emerging and established artists.
As artist she has shown her creative work at major galleries and museums.
